Your First Visit
Complimentary Examination and Consultation
The first step in beginning treatment in our office is an examination/consultation appointment with Dr. Reed. This appointment is to decide if you or your child could benefit from orthodontic treatment. We will take some photographs, one x-ray, and perform an examination. After the examination, we should be able to tell you what your treatment options are, how long the treatment will take, and what it will cost. We can also discuss insurance coverage (if applicable) and payment plans.
If treatment is appropriate, the next steps are accomplished at a second appointment. During that appointment, we will gather some additional diagnostic information, finalize the financial arrangements, and discuss the patient cooperation agreement. Compliance is the key to successful orthodontic treatment and it is important to us that each patient, no matter their age, understands their responsibilities as a patient. Once we have agreed on a plan, we can begin treatment and start placing braces or appliances that same day.
For those patients with insurance, we will fill out the paperwork and process claims for you. However, orthodontic insurance usually does not cover the entire fee. Therefore, we ask for a down-payment from you on the day we begin treatment, even if you have insurance. As a final note, we understand that proper orthodontic care can be expensive. For this reason, we provide several financial/payment options which can help to make this investment possible. We will explain these options to you at your examination appointment.
